say it right

i don’t know why but i really like this version of this song.  I think it has to do mostly with the presentation.  the actual video isn’t that good.  i think it sounds better live with the human bass/scratch/beatbox.

Wow, so that was 2006.  Carla and Jimmy got married, and then moved away.  Bobby Case died, Michael Gutierrez died, mortal peep fight, i bought a bed, we installed new sound at church, 14 gallons cost me $40, Big Love started, and finished, i actually watched some of american idol, went to phoenix, started planning my class reunion, Beto died, the Keller’s left, got 4 new tires, went fishing with jay, saw gretchen wilson again, saw the cheetah girls, saw the blue man group and the chinese acrobats, found balloons all over my room, Carmen had a concert, youtube got bought by google, i had a proposal, and a wedding date, found a new house, the bentleys are grandparents.

and this is 2007.  doesn’t taste any different.  i have to admit, i am anxious about all that 2007 has in store for patti and i.

merry christmas eve

you know, most of this christmas season, it hasn’t felt like christmas yet.  weather in the 80’s, lots of and bussel.  a funeral.  loads of work.  just not the normal christmas season.  so yesterday morning i decided, you know, it’s the eve before christmas eve and i’m not even in the spirit yet.  i mean we had pleanty of christmas music running on all of our stations, we had a tree up, i had decorations all over, but i just didn’t feel christmasey.

so i broke out my music collection and made a compilation of some of my favorite christmas music.

put it on the car on my way to the office.   yeah, i’m on vacation but i had work to do there anyway so i got there around 10 and started working on a project.  mr meek wanted to get together on wednesday to install this new EAS equitpment on our HD2 channels that needs to be in place before 07.  The equiptment finally got here and i figured i’d get a head start on it so i dont’ have to spend more time in the office than i have to.  So after i installed the 1st one, i thought- you know Ken is going to wonder how i hooked it up let me put together some instructions and while i’m at it.. i can share it with the other engineers in the company.  So while i was hooking all those up, we had a show start at 3pm on KHKZ.  A christmas special from Disney.  Well the audio was there but we were not getting the network commands like, comercial break, and legal id and stuff.  so i started scratching my head, ended up i never finished the installation.  Well i did, but i had left the wiring open so that i woudln’t accidently make something go on the air that wasn’t sopoused to while i was setting up and testing.  So i plugged the final connectors in and vola!  I got in my car and headed to chruch to work on a video for  The weather was a crisp 49 degrees, the rain was falling, my christmas music was playing.  NOW it feels like christmas.  We got the video done and i headed to HEB to get some stuff.  Just some last minute things for christmas lunch and some stuff for the house.  I also neede some supplies to finish off my proposal.  I know this relationship timeline has been a bit backwards but it’s getting done.

I’m not going to go into details about the proposal.  I wanted it to be special for her and all for her, but in the end she said Yes!!!

christmas06 025

In a field of yellow flowers
Undeneath the sun
Bluest eyes that spark with lightning
Boy with shoes undone

He is young so full of hope
Reveling in tiny dreams
Filling up his arms with flowers
Right for giving any queen

Running to her beaming bright
While cradeling his prize
A flickering of yellow light
Within his mothers eyes

She holds them to her heart
Keeping them where they’ll be safe
Clasped within her very marrow
Dandelions in a vase

She sees love where
Anyone else would see weeds
All hope is found
Here is everything he needs

Fathomless your endless mercy
Weight I could not lift
Where  do I fit in this puzzle
What good are these gifts

Not a martyr or a saint
Scarcely can I struggle through
All that I have ever wanted
Was to give my best to you

Lord search my heart
Create in me something clean
You see flowers in these weeds

Gently lifting hands to heaven
Softened by the sweetest hush
A father sings over his children
Loving them so very much

More than words could warrant
Deeper than the darkest blue
More than sacrifice could merit
Lord I give my heart to you

pleanty of food this weekend

well, we got out early on wednesday.  so i got my hair cut.  thursday was thanksgiving.  patti, the girls and myself went to the ranch.  of course there was tons of food.  there seams like a whole lot more people.  well, gaberil has his group, we had ours, joe’s famliy was there, mostly.  just seams like it keeps getting bigger.

friday morning was sopoused to go to South Padre Island to setup some equiptment for the Cowboys Sports Network covering a tournament at the convention center.  Their engineere wasn’t going to be in in time to get them setup and ready so they called me.  Carey had offered his place previoiusly so it would all work out well.  So i’m in Laguna Vista and the engineer calls that he’ll be ontime.  so… i was that far already so i just went to the condo and spent the rest of the weekend just resting.  mostly because i didn’t want to have to drive back.  I got to get some good pictures out of it though.

sunday after church Patti, Hannah and myself went to the ranch to work on my dad’s pc.  ended up having to restore the entire pc.  It had a built in partition with the restore disks on it, but it required burning the partition onto two dvd’s.  ok fine.. after two hours we then had to reinstall the dvd’s back onto the pc.  so another two hours later reboot and find out the the restore didn’t create the boot loader.  ok.. fine.. i had my disk with me so i just nuked the partition and reinstalled it my way.  30 miniutes later that was done.  i then reinstalled the drivers and office 03 and we were finally done.  got to have a good lunch and dinner out of it though.

she cries

Won't you come away with me tonight? We can fly past the moon and the starlight. It doesn't matter where you've been before On a night like this It doesn't matter where you've been before I'll love you like this (And she cries, she cries, yeah)
Can't you see, I won't leave But you have to open your eyes Here I stand, take my hand Let go of the fear that you hold
Don't throw your pearls to the swine tonight Don't let them take your innocence Just remember the times that I held your hand and kept you close Remember the times I held you up and now (She cries, she cries, yeah)
Can't you see, that I won't leave But you have to open your eyes Here I stand, take my hand Let go of the fear you hold

amazing finish

I don’t know how patti does it.. but she managed to do it again.  turned an absoutley horrid day into one of the greatest evenings i can remember in quite a while.  Randy, Hannah, Patti and myself got to see the Blue Man Group It is going down on my list of the best shows i’ve seen.  They had great showmanship and creativity. on a level all of there own.  i can’t even begin to describe it or tell you who they are like.  We HAVE to go see them do the stage show.

mad world

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere going nowhere
The tears are filling up their glasses
No expression no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very, very
Mad world. Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find if kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you I find it hard to take
The people run in circles it’s a very, very mad world. Mad world
