things i am thankfull for part 6

George W. Bush
No, this isn’t a political endorsement; it’s just a reflection of what he has faced during his term as President. In the five years since George W. took office, this country has been through more tragedy and turmoil than the previous two decades combined. Think about it: 9/11, the Anthrax attacks, the Internet bubble collapse, the war in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq, North Korea, the space shuttle disaster, hurricanes of unprecedented frequency and magnitude and the Michael Jackson trial. That’s a lot to take on in five short years. The thing in common in all of those tragedies is that the country was comforted by a strong and decisive leader. Could any other Presidents have done a better job? Maybe; we’ll never know. But we do know that George W. was able to keep the country together by looking each one of us in the eye and telling us it would all be OK; and for that we are thankful. We just wish he would also tell people to buy more lottery tickets so we have a way to pay for all of this.
